After a succession of false starts and frustrations, I began to work a painting of Holly from these 'failed paintings'. This process can be painful: to make paintings that are weak or unsuccessful only to then remove/recycle them in order to produce something that is more layered and fresh as a result.
Painting is never easy and I would never want it to be, but sometimes I wish for a painting that has a beginning, middle and an end.
Your paintings are so inspiring ben, always a pleasure to look at... do you have any more shows coming up?
